If jasmine were a person, she’d be the perfect, pretty, popular girl who came top of her year at school every year. Fortunately, jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminiodes) is a plant, as that sounds like a recipe for jealousy and falling out.
But this climber really is so very perfect and sweet and lovely.

From those neat, glossy, deep green evergreen leaves that turn such a lovely bronze in the autumn, to those neat, extraordinarily scented white flowers, this plant is so perfect, it is almost too perfect. But before all the other plants in your garden turn green and start to hate jasmine, it’s worth reminding them that this is a delicate plant that prefers to live in a warm, sheltered spot. Phew.
